Creamy Vegetable Soup
1 Turnip, peeled and cubed
3 Potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 Carrot, peeled and cut in chunks
1 Celery stick, cut in pieces
1 small onion, quartered
1 large tomato, quartered
2 teaspoons salt
5 cups water
Put all ingredients in pot cook until potatoes are done about 45 min. DO NOT drain. Blend in blender. Depending on size of blender, you may need to blend two batches. Be sure lid is on tight and don't fill more then half full because it's hot and you don't want it splashing up on you. If you have an immersion blender you may find that this work easier and is less messy, just be sure to blend well so it's nice and creamy.

Mmmmmm...that is sounding so good for one of these crisp Fall evenings! Thanks a ton!
Tammie.... yummy! I love turnips! This soup looks so tasty. We'll have to try it out.
This sounds fabulous! I'm going to see if I can get my husband to start taking soups to work in a thermos. He eats out much too often. Maybe you could post some ideas of to go lunches for me!
Ok, we had this tonight and it was good. I didn't think my kids would eat it at all but two of them slurped it down as fast as they could. Including my three year old! My 8 year old wouldn't eat it though. Probably the turnip.
I had a hard time getting it blended. I could only do a cup at a time or the steam would blow the top off my blender. Let's just say I had quite a mess to clean up by the time I was through!
Tammy, thank you just coming to your blog gets me excited. You can follow the eight week challenge I am trying to do on my blog, called Like a Lady series. :) www.grawberriesandnuggles.com
And thanks a ton!
We love this! I actually keep it in the pot and use my hand blender for a just a few times. We like it to still have some chunks in it.
I have had the blender issue like lazy, that's why I use the wand now.
Tammy, Do you know where I can get real kefir grains around here (Utah county)? Does anyone have some to share or buy?
Thanks,
Shanda
Shanda: I am planning on getting some too. If I had some I would totally share with you! Anyway I have heard that of some people getting them at the health food store so you could ask there I have not tried. I will more then likely buy mine from here http://www.culturesforhealth.com/splash.php
Hope that helps!
I love pureed veggie soups, this sounds great!
